First Session of the Interdepartmental Commission for Coordinating the Policy for Financing NGO Projects and Programmes from the Croatian State Budget

On Friday 27 July 2012 the first session of the Interdepartmental Commission for Coordinating the Policy for Financing NGO Projects and Programmes from the Croatian State Budget took place at the building of the Croatian Government. Pursuant to the Government's Decision from 12 July 2012, the objective of the Interdepartmental Commission is to establish effective coordination between state administration bodies, the Government Offices and other public institutions, for the purpose of rational and transparent allocation of non-refundable funds from the state budget to projects and programmes of special interest for the common good which are implemented by NGOs in Croatia.

As mandated by Deputy Prime Minister Milanka Opačić, the first session of the Commission was chaired by Head of the Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs Igor Vidačak, PhD. Main challenges and proposals for improvements in the system of financing NGO projects and programmes from public sources were discussed at the session.
Plan of activity until the end of 2012 was agreed.One of the priority tasks of all Ministries and other institutions involved in the system of financing NGO projects and programmes is to perform a thorough sector analysis with an overview of key issues which are planned to be resolved in cooperation with NGOs/CSOs in the subsequent budget period. On the basis of sector analyses and conducted discussions, the budget plans and proposals of criteria for the allocation of the apportionment of the games of chance revenue in 2013 will be prepared.
 
Owing to the Commission’s work an integrated plan containing all calls for proposals for NGO projects and programmes to be financed from the state budget in 2013 is expected to be announced by the end of the year.
